This guide will show you how to replace the ink cartridges in your Canon Pixma MG5700 series printer (MG5760, MG5765, MG5766).
Before you begin:
- Make sure your printer is turned on.
- Have your new ink cartridges ready. Canon recommends using genuine PGI-670 and CLI-671 cartridges.
Replacing the cartridges:
- Open the front cover of your printer.
- The print head holder will move to the replacement position. Do not touch the print head holder while it’s moving.
- The operation panel will open. If it doesn’t open automatically, gently open it yourself.
- Locate the empty ink tank by looking for the ink lamp that is flashing rapidly.
- Push the tab on the ink tank and lift it straight up to remove it.
- Handle the used ink tank carefully to avoid staining.
- Take out a new ink tank and remove the orange tape and protective film completely.
- Hold the ink tank upright with the orange cap pointing up.
- Gently lift the tab on the orange cap to remove it. 10. Insert the new ink tank into the print head holder at an angle, matching the colour with the label.
- Push down on the top of the ink tank until it snaps into place. The ink lamp should light up.
- Repeat steps 5-11 for each empty ink tank you need to replace.
- Close the operation panel carefully.
After replacing the cartridges:
- The printer may automatically clean the print head. Wait until this process is complete before printing.
- If your prints appear misaligned, you may need to align the print head.
Important tips:
- Replace ink tanks immediately after removing them.
- Use only new ink tanks.
- Don’t remove an installed ink tank and leave it out in the open.
- Ink is used during cleaning and maintenance cycles.
- Replace empty ink tanks promptly for optimal printing.
