Labels & Tapes — FAQs

What’s the difference between Brother DK die-cut and continuous labels?

DK die-cut rolls are pre-sized (e.g., address or shipping); just print and peel. DK continuous rolls are one long strip you cut to length—ideal for custom sizes or long signage.

Which Brother P-touch tape should I buy (TZe widths & materials)?

Check the width shown inside your label maker lid (common sizes: 6/9/12/18/24 mm). Use Standard TZe for general labelling, Flexible for curved/cable wraps, Strong Adhesive for rough surfaces, HSe Heat-shrink for cables, and Fabric/Iron-On for clothing.

Dymo ranges explained: LetraTag vs LabelWriter vs Rhino vs D1
  • LetraTag (LT): home/office handhelds—LT tape only.
  • LabelWriter (LW): desktop thermal printer—uses LW rolls (no ink).
  • Rhino: industrial—specialty materials/adhesives for cables & panels.
  • D1: cassette tapes for many Dymo handheld/desktop label makers.
Inkjet vs Laser labels — which do I need?

Match the label to your printer. Inkjet labels absorb liquid ink to prevent smudging. Laser labels are heat-resistant for toner fusing—using Inkjet sheets in a laser (or vice-versa) can cause poor print or jams.

What adhesive or finish should I choose?

Adhesive: Permanent (most uses), Removable (clean peel), Strong (rough/low-energy surfaces). Finish/Material: White, Clear, Kraft/Recycled, Heavy-Duty/Weather-resistant, Fabric/Iron-On, Heat-shrink, Flexible.

Tips for perfect prints & alignment on A4 label sheets
  • Use the correct template/code (e.g., Avery sheet number) and set scale to 100% (no ā€œFit to pageā€).
  • Select the right media type (e.g., Labels/Heavy) and print from the rear/manual tray if available.
  • Feed one sheet at a time; keep sheets flat and stored cool/dry.
Not sure which size or roll fits your printer?
